As we watch trends pass us by, we can’t help but realize the only consistent in fashion is change. Or is it? Does fashion really change or do iconic styles just evolve with the foundation being the same? Who creates these changes? What sparks the vision? Where do these concepts start? With every leading lady comes her glam squad. This glam squad is responsible for more than just making her beautiful, they are responsible for being creative, stepping out of the box, making magic happen, making sure their muse be the one everyone is talking about – from her head to her toes. Fashion is an art, the mediums being body, face, and hair. As hairstylists, we use hair as a medium to tell a story. Is this DAME romantic, bold, or shy? Is this DAME fierce, primitive, or meek? An iconic hairstylist is one whom seeks the opportunity to create a style with his or her DAME that becomes an iconic moment in history.

An example would be Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys with her perfected bun and bangs. Bridgette Bardot coined that voluminous sexy hair way before Pamela Anderson imitated it. Madonna trademarked bleached out hair with dark eyebrows. Sarah Jessica Parker stamped dark roots with wildly messy hair as Carie Bradshaw on the map. Let’s not forget the mayhem Jennifer Aniston set off when she stepped out with those layers in the nineties. All these styles through the decades are relevant today in one way or another. Were these ladies the master minds behinnd these iconic styles? No – they were the beautiful canvas… It was their iconic Hairstylist who dreamed up the do! We are inspired by them everyday when we do our hair, whether we acknowledge it or not.

Introducing one of our favorite iconic hairstylists…

SERGE NORMANT. Not only is he a visionary and leader in his own right, but he is the sweetest most genuine person we’ve been fortunate enough to spend time with.
